What is the Business Health Score?
The Business Health Score is a free tool that grades the overall health of businesses in any US ZIP code. It analyzes real data from our database of over 30 million businesses to produce a letter grade from A (excellent) to F (poor).
This tool is useful for market researchers, real estate investors, small business owners evaluating competition, and marketers looking for underserved areas to target.
How is the grade calculated?
The composite score is built from six weighted components:
- Average Rating (25%) - Higher average Google ratings indicate healthier businesses.
- Website Presence (20%) - The percentage of businesses with a website listed on their Google profile.
- Review Activity (20%) - Average number of reviews per business, reflecting customer engagement.
- Business Density (10%) - Total number of active businesses in the ZIP code.
- Business Stability (15%) - The inverse of closure rate. Fewer closures indicate a healthier market.
- Listing Engagement (10%) - Percentage of businesses that have claimed their Google listing.
